Konings Case Study

Helping Konings to cut down on water and energy usage

Konings has a UK factory located in Sudbury, Suffolk. They manufacture and pack drink products for other brands. Therefore, they use a significant amount of water and energy in their fruit pressing, blending, and fermentation processes.

Anglian Water Services, in collaboration with Water Plus, commissioned Savannah Environmental Consultancy to undertake water and energy (gas and electricity) audits at the Sudbury site. We were also asked to provide usage and cost recommendations and to determine the payback period of each of our recommendations, should they choose to invest in them.

Key Facts

What we did for them

Opportunities identified

We identified over ten substantial and quantifiable water and energy savings opportunities for Konings and defined the payback period against each investment.

Carbon baseline established

We established a baseline for carbon emissions generated by activity so Konings can measure the impact of future carbon reduction initiatives.

Water and energy analysis

We measured water and energy consumption levels and costs across different areas of the Konings factory so they could see where the opportunities lay.

Permits

We reviewed the environmental permits Konings had in place to ensure ongoing compliance with regulations

Prioritisation

We helped Konings to prioritise the remedial actions we recommended to enable them to make the most significant difference to their water and energy footprint.
